Why is it my latest posts have been about inefficiency? Well, I suppose I’m just trying to get used to being “a real person” again. Check my “Who’s Cali” page for the latest update on my health. But the happy distraction the subject line is referring to would be my love interest.
I met Hugo in 1999 while I was serving an LDS (mormon) mission in Argentina. I started off by pronouncing his name wrong, calling him “juice” instead of Hugo. Apparently he doesn’t mind me mispronouncing his name because it was all over for him at that point, though he didn’t tell me so until years later. We have been in and out of the relationship for 3 years now because my illness was too much by itself. Hugo was always certain of what he wanted.
To introduce Hugo, he is a man of many talents: cosmetologist, cook, baker and entrepreneur. Outside of work he loves gardening (we could really use your help right now!) and has done construction. He is the man you want to know in your neighborhood because he’s always helping someone. He hefts water to the elderly women, takes in handicapped orphans and is always on hand to help his mother get to doctor appointments. Not much has changed in all these years. Well, okay, maybe he was married and divorced, but his daughter adores him. He paints her fingernails! Yes, he does. But he’s not perfect, of course. His daughter shed a little more light on his personality when she said, “Daddy, I love you even though you tease me so much.”
He is certainly a tease and not for the weak-hearted, but he’s got to have some vice, right? Unfortunately he’ll fit right in with my family, so be careful if you visit us at a family party. You may be teased right out of it if you can’t dish it or at least take it. But if you need to regroup in the middle of the party I might sneak off to a corner with you.
All that was to say I’ve been quite negligent of this blog for at least a month, but may have collected myself enough to get back on track. Thanks for checking in!
